Cotton clothing has always been some of the most versatile, and in a budget wardrobe, nearly every cotton shirt, T-shirt, polo-shirt or sweatshirt can be made to do double duty as a laid-back garment and an item of semi-formal to formal clothing.
Here’s an example: ringer Tees are usually considered to be ‘casual’, even more so that plain T-shirts, but if you team a ringer T-shirt with a pair of trousers that match either the main colour or the trim, and a belt that matches the other colour in the ringer, you end up with a co-ordinated appearance that moves the clothing into the smart-casual range. Women can go a step further and include a colour-co-ordinated scarf and handbag and suddenly the outfit is very close to being ‘smart’ wear.
This is because there are two ways any item of cotton clothing can be presented – untucked and unironed cotton garments like sweatshirts, worn with jeans, re immediately casual. The same sweatshirt, pressed and worn with a tailored jacket, becomes smart-casual.
The second way to change the nature of your cotton clothing is accessories. A plain shirt worn with several buttons undone and the sleeves rolled up to show a T-shirt underneath is casual. The same shirt with a smart tie and some starch in the collar and cuffs becomes smart to formal.
Shoes make a huge difference in the accessory stakes – trainers are casual, boots are formal. Take one jacket worn with trainers and a polo-shirt, it screams casual: an outfit for watching a football match or going to the pub. Same jacket, good boots and a smart shirt or good wool jumper, suddenly it’s suitable for watching polo matches and nipping off to the country estate! The news come http://www.bossgoo.com/
